Drugs

They are for sale everywhere, including TV. If you don’t believe this is a problem then let me remind you of another item that was once for sale on TV.

When I was a child there was one particular commercial that I remember. During the sixties and early seventies one of the popular things I wanted to watch on TV was the westerns. Almost every channel had some show about the old west on it. Whether it was Gun Smoke or Bonanza there was always something to watch about the old west. The cowboy was the hero for kids in that day and it was no surprise that a cowboy was used to attract you to products for sale. One that stands out most to me was a handsome fellow with a plaid shirt, authentic cowboy hat, vest, a cool set of chaps and a pair of boots to die for. When I seen that tall fellow ride up on a horse it took no more than a second for me to decide, “I wanted to be like him.
Who was he?
The Marlboro Man!

That guy and his product have killed more people in the United States than any disease, drug, crime or war that America has had in the past forty years. Need I remind you, he died of lung cancer?

But no more. Drugs are quickly catching up to the cigarette and will soon pass it as the number one killer in America. Thirty years ago the FCC put a stop to cigarette commercials and started a campaign to reduce deaths and the effect those companies had on our lives. Where is the FCC today? We are now sold drugs to sleep, drugs to stay awake, drugs to settle your nerves, drugs to give you pep, even drugs to pee or get your penis up. All in front of our children. I see them on TV, I see them in the mail, I see them in the paper, on billboards, even in spam.
My number one spam is [disgusting]penis enhancing drugs.

I am sure almost every one in the US has had some one in your family die of cancer. How many of you have had a family member die of drugs? Legal or illegal. Did you know taking unneeded drugs can cause cancer? Lipitor, Zocor and Pravachol cholesterol lowering drugs have all been linked to cancer. Good eating habits and exercise are the only things that can keep you healthy. No drug can replace it.
Just like the Marlboro man, we are again pushing drugs on our children. This time we are forcing them to take mood enhancing drugs like Riddlin. This is no replacement for recess. If you think it is your killing your child.
The youngest member of my family died from drugs. The dealer that sold drugs and a gun to him remains on the street. The police know who he is and have done nothing. Illegal drugs have now become legal by proxy. If the laws are not enforced they are no good. We don’t need new laws. We need to enforce the laws we already have. Anything dangerous to the health of Americans needs to be pulled off the shelves, removed from TV commercials and the creators placed in prison. Should we wait another forty years? Or should we act now? Over six and a half billion lives are at risk. (That’s Billion with a B)
